How Republican Voters Viewed the GOP Primary

With the first set of votes cast in the GOP primary this week in Iowa, the outcome was not a surprise to Republican voters. Overall, Republican voters have viewed former President Trump as the likely winner throughout 2023, and have not seen any other candidate having a reasonable chance of winning since April of last year.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis started in the Spring as the candidate with the second highest chance of winning, and while he also ended the runup to the primaries with the second highest chance of winning, his numbers dropped from 47% chance of winning to 25%.
